they're at the president obama white house almost every week meeting with president obama. and i unde t a i underst what ab the f all this face time with president. does t i we're tol elizabe mas sea committ them on board with his agenda, particularly for his side of the negotiations with congressional republicans over the bush tax cuts and the stimulus and the deficit. this president seems to have a thick skin if letting bygones be bygones does not come naturally to him as a man, he is doing a convincing job as a president. from the friendly response from the business leaders after these meetings, even from the ones who supported mitt romney. it does not seem like the president is calling these business leaders to the white house to read them the riot act. it does not seem like he is trying to exact political revenge. it seal like he is trying to get them on board with his agenda, particularly for his side of the negotiations with congressional republicans over the bush tax cuts and the stimulus and the deficit. this president seems to have a thick skin if letting bygones be bygones do

.s. house, spending began to tick back up. and as we entered the obama years, mr. speaker, here is the largest deficit in american history recorded during the bush administration, this is the annual deficit recorded in the obama administration. not twice as large than the largest deficit in american history. not three times as large as the largest deficit in american history. but almost four times larger than the previous largest annual deficit in american history was the first year deficit recorded in the obama administration. we tip, that was the first time ever we run trillion dollar deficits, we continue to run trillion dollar deficits throughout that time. tax policy hasn't changed during that time. tax policy is exactly the same. you hear in the newspaper all the time, mr. speaker, the bush tax cuts. i don't know that that has meaning anymore. in 2001 and 2003 we did do some dramatic changes to tax policy. president obama extended all of those changes in 2010. that's the law of the land still today. tax policy has been exactly the same over this continuum. what has changed

a slightly higher tax rate. >> not so fast, mr. president. president obama says his plan reduces the deficit we $4 trillion over 10 years. forget the fact that it counts war savings which shouldn't count and go with the $4 trillion. house speaker john boehner said his plan cuts $2.2 trillion over 10 years. think about $16 trillion. that's how much debt this country has and according to bill gross, the man who runs the world's biggest bond fund, the guy that decides to lend money to the united states and how much we have to pay to borrow, says we have to cut spending or raise taxes by 11% of gdp over next 10 years and according to gross that's $1.6 trillion a year. that is, let's just make this clear, $1.2 trillion a year more than the president proposes and $1.38 trillion a year more than john boehner has offered. yeah. peanuts. i recently spoke with erskine bowles, the bowles in simpson-bowles and even he agreed that bill gross is right. >> absolutely. he's 100% right. i don't know if 16's number but i would be happier at $5 trillion or $6 trillion because that's what we need to solve the p
